10Conyomandments; repost from venice84 =]

Ten Conyomandments
by Gerry Avelino and Arik Abu
(taken from The LaSallian-Menagerie)

Conyo here, conyo there, conyo everywhere! Here at La Salle, conyospeak has become an unofficial language as a good chunk of the student body knows, or maybe even mastered the socialite tongue. However, one must never forget the basics of the conyo and we thusly bring you: The Ten Conyomandments.

1. Thou shall make gamit "make + pandiwa".

ex. "Let's make pasok na to our class!"
"Wait lang! I'm making kain pa!"
"Come on na, we can't make hintay anymore! It's in Andrew pa, you know?"

2. Thou shall make kalat "noh", "diba" and "eh" in your pangungusap.

ex. "I don't like to make lakad in the baha nga, no? Eh diba it's like, so eew, diba?"
"What ba: stop nga being maarte noh?"
"Eh as if you want naman also, diba?"

3. When making describe a whatever, always say "It's SO pang-uri!"

ex. "It's so malaki, you know, and so mainit!"
"I know right? So sarap nga, eh!"
"You're making me inggit naman.. I'll make bili nga my own burger."

4. When you are lalaki, make parang punctuation "dude", 'tsong" or "pare"

ex. "Dude, ENGANAL is so hirap, pare."
"I know, tsong, I got bagsak nga in quiz one, eh"

5. Thou shall know you know? I know right!

ex. "My bag is so bigat today, you know"
"I know, right! We have to make dala pa kasi the jumbo Physics book eh!"

6. Make gawa the plural of pangngalans like in English or Spanish.

ex. "I have so many tigyawats, oh!"

7. Like, when you can make kaya, always use like. Like, I know right?

ex. "Like, it's so init naman!"
"Yah! The aircon, it's, like sira!"

8. Make yourself feel so galing by translating the last word of your sentence, you know, your pangungusap?
ex. "Kakainis naman in the LRT! How plenty tao, you know, people?"
"It's so tight nga there, eh, you know, masikip?"

9. Make gamit of plenty abbreviations, you know, daglat?"

ex. "Like, OMG! It's like traffic sa LRT"
"I know right? It's so kaka!"
"Kaka?"
"Kakaasar!"

10. Make gamit the pinakamaarte voice and pronunciation you have para full effect!

ex. "I'm, like, making aral at the Arrhneo!"
"Me naman, I'm from Lazzahl!"

WAZAK..LECAT: Of blogging and supporting events =]

Ganda na sana ng morning ko..LECAT, nagdilate ang pupils ng nag mega check na AYT..

To be brutally frank and frankly brutal I blog events because not only do I believe in the project or I know the peeps behind it but most important yung definitely peeps will enjoy it. Not necessarily ako nakakapunta..hallo, still have law school, other priorities and some are FREE diko need ng paysung lagi coz friendships ko naman majority ng nasa event blogs ko.

I do admit nahurt ako. Maybe di intention nila yun..but still, kahit joke [READ: a joke is a HALF truth]..so, unconsciously you meant it.

And for the record, am not angry..just venting it out and indirectly getting the message to some peeps. Malawak ang blog community and one bad mouth goes a long way..wish nyo di yun mangyari if ever may event, query, or kahit personal post/s kayo. "if you CANNOT say anything nice, [cannot attend, not interested, etc.] DO NOT say anything NEGATIVE AT ALL."

Abstaining from Shark fin soup and Squalene products..forwarded but informative =]

Sent: Wed Sep 17 15:03:41 2008
Subject: Sharks Fin Soup and squalene

Hey Guys

Sorry to depress you with these photos.. they were taken in Donsol, Sorsogon (whale shark habitat), just two weeks ago by my friend Omar. The finned sharks are thresher, hunted by the hundreds..

The pink stuff in the bucket are little pieces of shark liver (from dog sharks) for squalene. Pictured here are the liver from some 1,000 + dogsharks that were caught..they live at least 2 fathoms deep..

This is the way the fishermen earn in the off season..they sell it to middle men who bring it to Taiwan and Hong Kong. Ive seen firsthand the hunting of dog shark and finning in Sorsogon and even Siargao but I am certain in happens everywhere..

What we can DO is raise awareness..

Thought you might like to shock some of your friends into ABSTAINING from Shark Fin Soup and Squalene products and better yet..to boycott establishments that sell them.

please forward if you wish

Hmn, need a gooood bustier for this =]

Never save something for a special occasionread on =]

  • A forwarded e-mail which made moi day..enjoy peeps..gut morgen and cheers =]
  • A friend of mine opened his wife's underwear drawer and
picked up a silk paper wrapped package: 'This, - he said -
isn't any ordinary package." He unwrapped the box and
stared at both the silk paper and the box.

"She got this the first time we went to New York ,
8 or 9 years ago. She has never put it on,
was saving it for a special occasion. Well, I guess this is it."
He got near the bed and placed the gift box next to the other
clothing he was taking to the funeral house, his wife had
just died. He turned to me and said:
  • "Never save something
for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special
occasion." I still think those words changed my life.

Now I read more and clean less. I sit on the porch without
worrying about anything. I spend more time with my family,
and less at work. I understood that life should be a source
of experience to be lived up to, not survived through.
I no longer keep anything. I use crystal glasses every day...
I'll wear new clothes to go to the supermarket, if I feel like it.
    I don't save my special perfume for special occasions ;
I use it whenever I want to. The words 'Someday...' and 'One Day...'
are fading away from my dictionary.
    If it's
worth seeing, listening or doing, I want to see,
listen or do it now. I don't know what my friend's wife would
have done if she knew she wouldn't be there the next morning,
this nobody can tell. I think she might have called her relatives and closest
friends. She might call old friends to make peace
over past quarrels. I'd like to think she would go out for
Chinese, her favorite food. It's these small things that I would
regret not doing, if I knew my time had come. I would regret it,
because I would no longer see the friends I would meet,
letters... that I wanted to write 'One of these days'.
I would regret and feel sad, because I didn't say to my
brother and sisters, son and daughters, not times enough at least,
    how much I love them.
Now, I try not to delay, postpone or keep anything that could
bring laughter and joy into our lives.. And, on each
morning, I say to myself that this could be a
    special day..
Each day, each hour, each minute, is special.

    'One of these
days' , remember that 'One day' is far away...
    or might never come....

Bar Exams 2008..going for gold =]

MANILA, Philippines - A record number of 6,533 law graduates will to take the 2008 Bar examinations for the four Sundays of this month at the De La Salle University in Manila, the Supreme Court said Friday.

In a statement, Deputy Clerk of Court and Bar Confidant Ma. Cristina Layusa said of the total 6,560 petitions to take the Bar exams, 11 had been denied while 16 others had withdrawn from taking this year's examinations.

This year's committee on Bar examinations is chaired by Justice Dante Tinga. Next year will be the turn of Justice Antonio Eduardo Nachura.

Layusa said the Supreme Court has tasked more than 1,440 personnel, including building coordinators, superintendents, supervisors, headwatchers, watchers, Bar assistants, and special assistants – also a record number – to help ensure the successful conduct of the exams.

Operatives of the Metro Manila Development Authority and the Manila Police District from its traffic, area security, bomb disposal and mobile units, as well as medical and dental personnel will also be deployed in the area during all four Sundays.

Layusa urged the examinees to come early on September 7 since the annual Alay Lakad along Roxas Boulevard may affect the traffic situation on that day.

DLSU gates will open as early as 5 a.m during the Bar exam dates. Moreover, the portion of Taft Avenue from Quirino Avenue to Pablo Ocampo Sr. Street (formerly Vito Cruz) will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the Bar exam dates, the Supreme Court statement said.

During the August 28 briefing of personnel for the 2008 Bar examinations, Tinga urged all those who will serve in the “most transparent, and the best-run professional exams" to work hard.

This year’s examinees will use 95 rooms, five conference rooms, and Central Plaza, and 57 additional classrooms, including six theater-type rooms of the DLSU Taft campus.

“Let us do our duty well…That way, the Bar exams will remain to be most trusted, most honest, most popular," Tinga said.

    Guidelines

In a related development, the Court has adopted guidelines for all concerned regarding their conduct and activities within the perimeter of the venue of the Bar exams (“Perimeter Area").

Stressing that the Bar examinations are in the nature of a court proceeding, the Court enjoins all examinees and all other persons within the Perimeter Area “to observe the same conduct and decorum as they would attend a court hearing or when within the immediate vicinity thereof."

The Court said no noise-making activities of any kind shall be allowed in the Perimeter Area from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on any of the four Sundays of the Bar exams. “Alcoholic beverages and any kind of deadly weapon shall be absolutely prohibited within the said area for the duration of the exams."

On the observance of proper decorum, the Court said, “No improper or unbecoming conduct in the Perimeter Area shall be allowed for the duration of the Bar Examinations, including but not limited to: ‘streaking’ or any other form of exhibitionism; ati-atihan or any other form of parades; the playing of live or loud music; cheerleading exhibitions; political demonstrations; gambling; and other similar activities that cause disruption or disturbance to the examinees at any time on the day or on the eve of the examinations."

After 5 p.m., or the end of examination time during all four Sundays, any conduct or activity within the Perimeter Area shall be governed and regulated in accordance with the relevant laws and local government ordinances.

“The Court will enforce these guidelines strictly and adopt sanctions against violations thereof under its inherent powers as well as under applicable laws and ordinances," the Guidelines stated.

The 2005 Bar exams marked the first time that the “five-strike" rule was implemented. The “five-strike" rule limits to five the maximum number of times a candidate may take what is reputed to be the most grueling government-administered test.

Last year, 5,626 examinees took the 2007 Bar exams. Of the total, 1,289 examinees, or 22.91 percent, passed.

The first Bar exams were held in 1901, with 13 examinees.

The Court conducts the Bar examinations pursuant to Article VIII, Sec. 5 of the Constitution which provides that it shall have the power to promulgate rules governing the admission to the practice of law.

The Rules of Court provide that “a candidate may be deemed to have passed his examination successfully if he has obtained a general average of 75% in all subjects without falling below 50% in any subject." In determining the average, subjects in the examinations are given the following relative weights: Political and International Law, 15%; Labor and Social Legislation, 10%; Civil Law, 15%; Taxation, 10%; Mercantile Law, 15%; Criminal Law, 10%; Remedial Law, 20%; and Legal Ethics and Practical Exercises, 5%, for a total of 100%.
