Wine Tasting..Rene Barbier..=]

"It all started when a French winemaker moved to Spain..."

Oh, the perks of blogging..last night {October 9, 2008] we were treated to a basic seminar on wine tasting..perfectly balanced, elegant selection, critically reknowned Rene Barbier.

From vineyard picks, to storing wines, to differentiating between old and new world wines, to the techniques of opening a bottle of a red as well as champagne..truly informative/educational..

..oh yeah, the wine tasting..

1. CLASSIC MERLOT + TEMPRANILLO - An RB CLassic for those who love the fruity taste and soft texture of the popular Merlot grape. Combined with the toffeeish Tempranillo grape, this vintaged wine is a delight. Aged in oak barrels, it has fruity aromas and soft touches of cherry and plums on the palate.

2. PREMIUM CABERNET SAUVIGNON AND CHARDONNAY - inspired from old worl wines, RB fused the art of winemaking traditions of France and Spain, It offers a rich and powerful wine experience. It has vivid aromas because it is matured in American and French oak barrels..and has won awards in Europe and Asia.

3. CAVA - evokes the spirit of it mother company, Freixenet. Made from Macabeo, Parellada, and Xarello, this wine underwent the same exacting and rigorous techniques and methos used by the greatest Champagne and Cava brands to make a sparkling wine of impeccable quality. It is bottle-aged for almost two years, producing a clean and delicate Cava yet rich in flavour. It is crisp with an interesting floral note and mouh-pleasing sensation of creaminess.

4. PETILLANT RED [ROSE] - an elegant wine with a perfectly clear raspberry pink colour. Its fine pearly bubbles persist as foam in the glass. It has fruity aromas of strawberry and raspberry. Soft on the palate, the fruity taste is intensified by the light bubbles, making it even more refreshing

..that was what I've tried..and the last two wines were moi fave. Couple that with food from Fish and Co....plus great friends/fellow bloggers..twas a great chillax time before moi finals week.

Of cosplay dramus/wars.. =X

I concur to a recent blog post of moi anorexia sister..

Sponsors should also respect that cosplay is not a marketing strategy..if indeed they'd like to use it as such, then they should incorporate thematic concepts and facilities for cosplayers..[hello visualize this..its hard to transport and/or *pee in costume noh].

I went to the book fair which personally, was also surprised why they included cosplay. If there was a theme for such book fair..it would have been fun and challenging to cosplay book characters..[no offense to anime characters] for a change.

Cosplayers should also be aware of what cosplay events they enter/join. Personally, SAGRADO ang cosplay..not like some karinderia opening tapos magiinclude ng cosplay pupunta naman tayo..wag ganun. Don't get me wrong, I really admire cosplayers..I just don't like it when they are being used just to market a certain establishment or product..be it a fastfood resto, a theme park, a book fair, a mall store opening..there i said it, that's as brutally frank and frankly brutal as I can get.

Cosplayers should not be divided into "factions"..should be one community..a family so to speak. Walang basagan ng trip..if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.."expensively made" or not.."ukay-ukay" find or "tailor-made"..di man kamukha, di man uber gaya..RESPECT EACH OTHER..

Cosplay is an art, a hobby, a passion..utmost and mutual RESPECT should be given to the cosplayers, organizers, sponsors, photographers..the whole community. Without it the FUN part dissolves..or dare I say turns into a user/sourgraper/stalker brouhaha like what's happening now on certain social accounts.

*Nota Bena: Waging war/irking peeps/annoying peeps/sourgraping..is no solution especially if you do not face up to it. I mean FTW..you are confused or something. At the end of the day you'll still feel "alone". Really, kids these days..are we breeding a new generation of "wanna be stalkers"? Walang basagan ng trip.."hobby" nga eh..AYSOWS..

Cheers =]

Pride March.. =]

Do you remember your first pride march?

I do. I’m sure we all do. And if you haven’t had the opportunity to participate in one yet, this year’s the perfect time to do so.

This year's Pride March is a tribute to our rights, our lives, our loves and our selves. It’s also the celebration of the 10 years of Filipino rainbow pride. It’s a perfect 10 for the success of the past pride marches, and the anticipated one of this year’s. Hence, the theme is A decade of dignity: our rights, our lives, our loves, our selves.

The Pride March is known for its overwhelming attendance. It attracts thousands of participants and generates extensive local and international media attention. This year’s Pride March is also more particularly significant as it coincides with the celebration of the 60th year of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the launch in Manila of the Yogyakarta Principles (www.yogyakartaprinciples.org), an international declaration which affirms that sexual orientation and gender identity and expression as fundamental human rights.

But we can’t do it without your help. Community member or supporter, we could all contribute to make this year’s pride march a milestone for our country’s history.

How you can help

There are a lot of ways to help. Right now, the Task Force Pride in the process of organizing and mobilizing the actual march. Tentatively slated for December 5 or 6, the actual march will be surrounded by a lot of activities and programs.

I, together with my friends from Lunduyan ng Sining am officially in charge of the program committee and so my first call is to find people who will:

  1. Perform – we are in need of program performers. Any act or talent you want to share is welcome! These will be for the pre-pride party (tentatively slated Nov. 29, 2008) and for the post-pride program (right after the pride march of December 5 or 6, 2008). If you feel you can bring it, contact Peach at 0917-5392742.

However, there are a lot of other ways you can help too:

  1. Volunteer we are in need of volunteer committee members. If you think you can help in any which way possible, please drop us a line at tfpmanila@yahoo.com or tfpmanila@gmail.com.
  2. Help us gather funds – Task Force Pride has always been operating through the funds of generous donors and sponsors, as well as contributions of the participants. If you have contacts of rainbow-friendly individuals, companies, donors, sponsors, bars, etc., please let Dee know at divamanila@yahoo.com or 0918-2507470.
  3. Contribute – if you can contribute yourself, in terms of finances or even a venue for us to hold our programs and briefings, let us know! Contact Dee at divamanila@yahoo.com or 0918-2507470.
  4. Participate in the marchIf you need more information on how you, your organization, your friends or your family can participate in the march, contact Bruce at bruce.amoroto@gmail.com. (See the call for participation)
  5. Repost this call! Help us spread the love. Feel free to repost this entry onto your own blogs, or send it to your friends, officemates, etc.

How you can keep updated

While we are in the process of finalizing our website, you can keep yourself updated on what’s going on by logging on to www.pridemanila.wordpress.com.

Thanks and we hope to see you at the march!
